A new school year has started and here we are! The second grade teachers would like to welcome everyone back to BASE and let you all know how excited we are for this school year.
These past few weeks have gotten us off to a great start with lots of working together and community service based projects. Some of the causes our class has been trying to focus on include:
Backpack Drive for the Homeless: The students were visited by Mr. Tommy from the Baycove Community Crisis Center who told us about the need for backpacks that many of his patients experience. Students did projects that tried to answer the question, "If everything I need had to fit in one backpack, what items would I choose?" Throughout the month of October, our class will be accepting donations of old backpacks to contribute to the Crisis Center's patients. Check your closets!
Braintree Community Food Pantry: Our class has also set up a donation box outside of the kitchen for non-perishable foods to be donated to the community food pantry. This will also be going on throughout this next month.
Our class would appreciate all the help we can get, so check your closets and your cupboards and tell family and friends!
