This week, the students at BASE turned their attention to the subject of Heroes! We talked about all the different kinds of heroes we could think of. First, there are Super Heroes--they have powers like super strength, speed, and more and use their powers to help others. We also talked about Historical Heroes--people who have managed to change the world for the better. Some popular examples of Historical Heroes that the second graders came up with included George Washington, Martin Luther King Jr., and Abe Lincoln. Finally, we talked about a very special type of hero that we referred to as "Everyday Heroes". The great thing about an Everyday Hero is that they can be anybody who has ever done something to make the world a better place--no matter how big or small! Believe it or not, do you know what one of the most popular examples of an "Everyday Hero" was? It was "Parents"!
