Before we start talking about how awesome Fitness Week has been, let's start with a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT.... Ready?
The 2nd Grade will be hosting a Family Night on Thursday, October 11th at 6:30pm! The theme for the evening will be Healthy Families and we are asking that each family contribute their favorite healthy recipe! Bring your recipe in writing on the recipe cards provided on the invitation you will receive from your child. And, of course, we're going to want to taste it, so whip up a batch to share on the big night, too! There will be a sign-up sheet posted in advance so that each family knows what they are bringing, so we don't have to worry about doubles!

Now, on to Fitness Week! We've been having a great time talking about different ways that people stay fit and healthy . We talked about our favorite exercises and how they make us feel, we made collages of healthy foods and activities, and we even made succotash--a healthy, veggie packed snack to eat on Thursday!
Also it's been so great to see the amount of families that volunteered to bring in fruits and veggies for our Food Tasting class next week, when we're learning about nutrition. Don't forget to drop off your donations by Monday, September 17th! We can't wait to try some new things!

A few things to remember:
- Please send your child with a sweatshirt or light jacket, as the weather has been unpredictable!
- Please let us know if your child has been completing their homework. We usually let you know if they have some to finish, but sometimes we miss some things!
- If you haven't done so, please turn in your Family & Caretaker Questionnaires as soon as possible. They've been a big help so far, and we love the responses!
- Family Night: Thurs, Oct. 11th, 6:30pm! Hurray!
