Welcome to second grade! We were so excited to meet all the new students over the last two weeks, and can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us!
On our first day, the kids came in with tons of energy! We got right to business, eating snack and getting some homework done. Then it was outside to play on a beautiful afternoon. When we came in, students completed a Scavenger Hunt! In this game, they had a list of fun facts and they had to find classmates who “have brown eyes,” “have a cat,” and “were born in another state,” and other cool facts. It was a great way to get to know each other. We also made nametags, which tell us where to sit! We spent the rest of the week learning how we eat snack, clean up our classroom, and help each other learn and have fun.
The theme of Week 2 is Dance! We’ve done a lot of dance activities, including cooking Jello Jigglers! Some of our favorite activities were a Dance Circle, where we all got to lead our friends in a fun dance that we like. We also played X Marks the Spot, which is a little like Musical Chairs. On Friday, Miss Kayla taught us about rain and we did a rain dance.

To our excitement, it actually rained after we finished! Here are the students looking out the window at our success!
As a final note to this post, we'd like to ask you to SAVE THE DATE! Tuesday, September 24 is our Family Night, where we look forward to meeting and spending time with our students’ families and playing some fun activities. Our Theme is going to be “Favorites” – so we will be asking families to bring in your child’s favorite foods for the potluck. To prevent too many servings of mac n’ cheese and chicken nuggets, we will post a signup sheet on our door. Please sign up at your earliest convenience, and we appreciate your help in making Family Night a yummy success!
Thanks for a great couple of weeks, we look forward to seeing you all soon!
