This week our second graders learned about the human body. We talked about the things our bodies can do, what we keep inside our bodies, and ways we can take better care of them.
We made life sized paper and cardboard models of our bodies and filled them in with a skeletal system, a nervous system, a circulatory system, and a digestive system. We would have covered even more, but talking about the human body sure takes up a lot of time!
Ms. Stephanie covered the skeletal system even more and showed us how to make miniature paper models of our bones. We were surprised by how hard it was to put everything in the right place!
With Mr. Bobby, we talked about our bodies' 5 senses and what we use them for. We did an experiment with popcorn to see how many of our senses we actually use when making this delicious snack. It was awesome!
On Thursday, some of us headed to the kitchen with Ms. Nicky where we made delicious sweet plantains. They were a huge hit with all the kids!
Do you have a favorite recipe in your family? Well, now's the time to share it because on Thursday, Oct. 11th at 6:30pm our class with be hosting a Family Night open house and the theme is Healthy Families! We can't wait to see you there and to try what we've cooked up to share!
